Man arrested in drug trafficking investigation in Burgettstown

BURGETTSTOWN, PA — A four-month multi-jurisdictional investigation into drug trafficking in western Pennsylvania and Ohio concluded Wednesday with an arrest and search warrant execution.

Archie Orison, 53, of McDonald and Burgettstown, was taken into custody following a traffic stop on State Route 18 in Burgettstown.

Orison was found to be in possession of crack cocaine when he was arrested, according to Washington County Sheriff Tony Andronas.

The investigation involved the Washington County Sheriff’s Office Fugitive Warrant Unit, Pennsylvania Office of Attorney General, Pennsylvania State Police, Mt. Pleasant Township Police, McDonald Borough Police, North Fayette Township Police, Robinson Township Police and Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office Drug Task Force in Steubenville, Ohio.

The investigation centered on the distribution and trafficking of heroin, cocaine and crack cocaine within multiple municipalities in western Pennsylvania and Ohio.

Surveillance was conducted on numerous individuals and locations during the investigation.

Following Orison’s arrest, the Jefferson County Drug Task Force executed a search warrant at a residence in Steubenville, Ohio.

An individual was taken into custody after cocaine, crack cocaine and more than $15,000 in cash were located during the search.

Orison was lodged in the Washington County Correctional Facility on a Washington County bench warrant and an arrest warrant from Mt. Pleasant Township.

Additional charges are pending against Orison.

Additional arrests may follow as a result of the investigation.
