SKANEATELES, NY — Multiple fire departments responded to a house fire on West Lake Road early Tuesday morning.
Marcellus and other departments were dispatched at 3:03 a.m. to the reported fire in the Skaneateles Fire District.
Skaneateles Car 1 arrived first and reported fire in the attic, upgrading the alarm to a signal 99.
Marcellus Ladder 33, led by Chief Rothery, and Car 2, led by Assistant Chief Mayers, responded along with the remainder of the box alarm assignment.
Assistant Chief Mayers worked with a crew from Mottville to open up the roof and attic area.
Ladder 33’s crew advanced a backup attack line into the residence, working with crews from Skaneateles and Jordan on extinguishment.
Ladder 33 and Car 2 also assisted with overhaul operations.
Marcellus crews operated on scene for 2 1/2 hours before returning to service.
Additional Marcellus members staffed their station to cover their district while the ladder was in Skaneateles.
The fire was the second working fire that Marcellus members responded to in less than 24 hours.
