NORTHVALE, NJ — A 14-year-old boy went into cardiac arrest during a school basketball game Sunday afternoon at Northvale Public School.
The Northvale Police Department responded to the school gymnasium at 441 Tappan Road at approximately 4:30 p.m. after receiving a 911 call reporting the medical emergency.
Officers found the patient alert and conscious upon their arrival.
Police determined the student suffered a medical emergency during the basketball game.
The school nurse and basketball coach provided immediate emergency first aid that resulted in the patient regaining consciousness before police arrived.
Patient care was transferred to the Closter Ambulance Corps and Hackensack University Medical Center Paramedics, who transported the teen for medical observation.
