HIGHGATE, VT — Two Swanton residents have been arrested in connection with an armed robbery at a home in December.
Eric Smith, 41, of Swanton, and Sabrena Murray, 31, of Swanton, were taken into custody at about 4 p.m. Wednesday at a residence in Swanton.
The arrests stem from a home invasion that occurred at about 4 a.m. on Dec. 3 at 493 Cook Rd. in Highgate.
Vermont State Police said two people forcefully entered the residence, threatened the occupants with a weapon, stole valuables and fled the area.
No one was injured during the incident.
The Vermont State Police Tactical Services Unit, Bomb Squad, Crisis Negotiation Unit and Unmanned Aircraft Systems Programs assisted in the arrests.
Smith and Murray surrendered without incident and were taken to jail pending arraignment.
Smith is facing charges of burglary into an occupied dwelling and assault and robbery.
Murray is facing charges of burglary into an occupied dwelling, aiding in the commission of a felony, possession of stolen property and providing false information to a police officer.
Smith’s bail was set at $10,000, and Murray’s bail was set at $2,500.
Both are scheduled to be arraigned at 1 p.m. Thursday in the Criminal Division of Vermont Superior Court in St. Albans.
