DANSVILLE, NY — The Livingston County Sheriff’s Office arrested an Avon resident on felony and misdemeanor charges following an investigation into a stolen debit card.
Deputies responded to a government building in the village at approximately 6 p.m. Jan. 6, 2026, for a report of a stolen debit card that had been used in December 2025.
Sheriff’s investigators identified Robert Proctor, 63, of Avon, as a suspect through their investigation into the theft and subsequent unauthorized purchases.
Investigator James Merrick arrested Proctor on Jan. 13, 2026, and charged him with felony grand larceny in the fourth degree, felony identity theft in the second degree and petit larceny.
Proctor was processed and released on an appearance ticket at the Livingston County Jail, as the charges do not qualify for bail under the New York State Justice Reform Act.
