BRISTOL, CT — A bicyclist is in critical condition after being struck by a vehicle that fled the scene on Birch Street.
The crash occurred in the area of 263 Birch Street, according to the Bristol Police Department.
The bicyclist, an adult male in his 30s, was thrown from his bicycle and into the roadway after being struck by the first vehicle.
A second vehicle then struck the victim, who was lying in the roadway.
The driver of the second vehicle did not see or realize the victim was in the roadway and is cooperating with police.
The victim sustained serious injuries and was transported to an area hospital by Life Star.
Witnesses report the fleeing vehicle is believed to be a silver SUV with front-end damage.
The Serious Traffic Accident Reconstruction Team is investigating the incident.
Motorists are advised to avoid the area of Birch Street while the investigation remains ongoing.
