VENTNOR CITY, NJ — A 92-year-old Ventnor City man was seriously injured after being struck by a vehicle in a hit-and-run crash Nov. 20.
Ventnor City Communications received multiple 911 calls at 6:16 p.m. reporting a pedestrian struck by a motor vehicle at Ventnor and Newport avenues.
Callers reported the striking vehicle had fled westbound on Ventnor Avenue.
Officers arrived and found a man lying in the roadway.
The victim was transported to a local hospital with serious injuries.
Witnesses described the vehicle as a white Volvo SUV, possibly an XC40 model.
The Patrol Division and Detective Bureau determined the vehicle had a Delaware registration.
Investigators identified the driver as Leslie Myers, 51, of Weldin Park, Delaware.
Myers was charged on a warrant with one count of assault by auto, one count of leaving the scene of an accident causing serious bodily injury and several motor vehicle summonses.
Myers was taken into custody Jan. 7 by O’Hara Township Police Department in Pennsylvania.
She is being held in the Allegheny County Jail in Pennsylvania awaiting extradition to New Jersey.
The investigation was handled by Officer Raymond Snyder with assistance from Detective Damian Guanchez.
New Castle County Police in Delaware and O’Hara Township Police Department in Pennsylvania assisted in the investigation.
