NEW BEDFORD, MA — A Dartmouth man faces multiple charges after police found him in a stolen vehicle early Monday morning.

Officers responded to the CVS on Kempton Street at approximately 4:30 a.m. for a report of a stolen motor vehicle.

Security footage showed Nicholas Ouimet, 33, of Dartmouth, going behind the counter and taking car keys along with several other items before driving away in the stolen vehicle.

About an hour and a half later, Officer Nicholas Abbate received a report of a male slumped over in a vehicle at the intersection of Nemasket and Alva streets.

Officers responded and identified the driver as Ouimet, who was removed from the stolen vehicle and taken into custody.

A search resulted in the seizure of a crack pipe and a small bag of cocaine.

Officers later learned that Ouimet had also been involved in an unarmed robbery earlier at the Walgreens on Pleasant Street.

During that incident, Ouimet approached an employee working at the counter and when the register was open, he shoved the employee, grabbed cash and fled the scene.

Ouimet was charged with unarmed robbery, assault and battery, larceny from a building, shoplifting by asportation, larceny of a motor vehicle, possession of a Class B drug, operating under the influence of drugs and operating a motor vehicle with a suspended or revoked license.

Ouimet also had three outstanding warrants at the time of his arrest.
