NEWPORT — The fourth annual Tipsy Talks storytelling series opens Tuesday, January 6, at Jasper’s Tavern in Newport with presentations on the post-9/11 intelligence community and the world of J.R.R. Tolkien.
Bobby Walls-Thumma will present “A Day in the Life: The Post-9/11 Intelligence Community,” followed by Dawn Walls-Thumma discussing “The World of J.R.R. Tolkien as History.” Stories begin at 6:30 p.m.
The community-driven speaker series features Northeast Kingdom residents sharing stories, tales and personal experiences in a casual, welcoming environment.
Events take place every other Tuesday throughout winter and spring, rotating through local venues including Jasper’s in Newport, Parker Pie in West Glover and Bullwheel Bar at Jay Peak.
The next event takes place January 20 at Parker Pie in West Glover, featuring Lydia Pendergast on “Malus: Bad Apples” and Tom Ward discussing “Forest Management: Good or Bad?”
Additional events are scheduled for February 3 and February 17, March 3 at Jay Peak starting at 5:30 p.m., and March 17 and March 31.
