TRUMBULL, CT — A gun was fired inside the Trumbull Mall during a dispute between teenagers late Friday afternoon, but no one was injured, police said.
Trumbull police officers responded to the mall at about 5:45 p.m. after receiving numerous 911 calls reporting a disturbance.
Officers learned that several teenagers who knew each other got into a heated argument while walking through the shopping center outside the Macy’s store on the upper level.
One of the teens displayed a handgun and fired at least one shot but did not strike anyone.
Police said the suspects were able to quickly escape from the mall before officers arrived.
Traffic exiting the mall for the 6 p.m. closing time was delayed while officers searched for the suspects and collected evidence.
Due to deteriorating weather conditions and large crowds of shoppers, Trumbull police were assisted by mutual aid officers from Bridgeport, Fairfield and Monroe.
Detectives were following several leads with the help of numerous witnesses and evidence collected from the scene.
