BILLERICA, MA — A Chelmsford man has been arrested and charged with using stolen identities and distributing cocaine in the region following a multi-agency investigation.
Felix Garcia, 60, of Chelmsford, faces charges of identity fraud, possession or use of a false or stolen RMV document, operating a motor vehicle with a suspended or revoked license, and possession of cocaine with intent to distribute as a subsequent offense.
The Billerica Police Department opened an investigation in November after receiving information that an individual was allegedly distributing drugs in the area.
The department was assisted by Homeland Security Investigations, the Social Security Administration and the New England State Police Information Network.
Investigators determined Garcia was using at least three stolen identities and was wanted on an active Massachusetts arrest warrant under one of his aliases.
Police obtained an arrest warrant from Lowell District Court and a search warrant for Garcia’s residence in Chelmsford.
On Monday, Dec. 22, Billerica Police, with assistance from Chelmsford Police, HSI and SSA, took Garcia into custody without incident.
A search of Garcia’s person and residence located 10 bags of cocaine weighing approximately 8 grams, more than $700 in cash and drug distribution paraphernalia.
Investigators also recovered a fraudulent Puerto Rican birth certificate and Social Security card.
Chelmsford Police filed an additional charge of possession with intent to distribute cocaine as a subsequent offense.
Garcia was arraigned Monday on the Billerica charges and released on personal recognizance bail.
He will be arraigned at a later date on the drug charge.
