WEATHERSFIELD, VT — A two-vehicle head-on collision on Route 106 left one person dead Thursday evening.
The Windsor County Sheriff’s Department responded to the crash near Stoughton Pond Road at approximately 5:08 p.m.
Brandon Rodriguez, 21, of Wethersfield, Connecticut, was driving a 2016 Audi Q3 when it collided with a 2014 Hyundai Sonata operated by Vicky Butterfield, 47, of Springfield.
Rodriguez and two passengers in his vehicle sustained minor injuries and were treated at Mt. Ascutney Hospital.
Butterfield died despite life-saving efforts by emergency responders.
Both drivers were wearing seat belts at the time of the crash.
Weather and road conditions were clear.
The Windsor County Sheriff’s Department was assisted at the scene by Weathersfield Fire, Springfield Police Department and the Vermont State Police Crash Reconstruction and Drone teams.
The cause of the crash remains under investigation.
