Man indicted on sexual assault charges in Manchester Township

MANCHESTER TOWNSHIP, NJ — A grand jury has indicted a local man on charges of sexual assault and endangering the welfare of a child.

Darnell Williams, 34, of Manchester Township, was indicted on December 17 by a grand jury sitting in Ocean County, according to Ocean County Prosecutor Bradley D. Billhimer.

An investigation by the Ocean County Prosecutor’s Office Special Victims Unit and Manchester Township Police Department revealed that between 2010 and 2013, Williams sexually assaulted a minor female victim who was in his care in Manchester Township.

Williams was charged with the offenses on September 17 and served with the charges at the Atlantic County Jail, where he is presently detained on three counts of sexual assault, three counts of endangering the welfare of a child, and three counts of official misconduct in connection with incidents that occurred in Atlantic County.

On October 6, Williams was additionally charged with two counts of criminal sexual contact and two counts of endangering the welfare of a child following an investigation by the Ocean County Prosecutor’s Office Special Victims Unit, Manchester Township Police Department, and Stafford Township Police Department.

That investigation revealed that between 2020 and 2023, Williams inappropriately touched a minor female victim in Manchester and Stafford townships.

Williams was served with those charges at the Atlantic County Jail, and they remain pending.

Assistant Prosecutor Lynn Juan presented the case to the grand jury on behalf of the state.
