HALFMOON, NY — A woman was arrested Tuesday on charges of abusing three tortoises at her residence.
The Saratoga County Sheriff’s Office received an animal abuse complaint on Dec. 4 regarding an incident at a home on Woodin Road in the town of Halfmoon.
Lahoma A. Rowe, 45, of Halfmoon, was charged with three counts of overdriving, torturing and injuring animals and failure to provide proper sustenance, all class A misdemeanors.
She is accused of failing to provide proper sustenance and a clean living environment to three tortoises.
The tortoises were seized by virtue of a court order and are being cared for by wildlife rehabilitators.
Rowe was released on appearance tickets pending proceedings in Halfmoon Town Court.
