LAKEWOOD TOWNSHIP, NJ — Lakewood police arrested a man on burglary charges after responding to a business alarm early Sunday morning.
Officers responded to 166 Erica Road at approximately 2:30 a.m. on Dec. 15 for a reported alarm activation.
Upon arrival, officers heard security alarms coming from the rear of the property and observed signs of suspicious activity.
Officers discovered footprints in the snow leading to the rear entrance of the business.
A window showed signs of forced entry, including broken glass and disturbed blinds.
Officers observed a male inside the business tampering with wiring and equipment believed to be connected to the alarm system.
Officers entered the building and took the suspect into custody without incident.
The suspect was identified as Jesus Rendon-Malina, 40, of South Toms River.
He was transported to Lakewood Police Headquarters for processing.
Rendon-Malina was charged with third-degree burglary and disorderly persons criminal mischief.
During processing, officers recovered multiple credit cards and identification cards not belonging to the suspect, along with an undisclosed amount of cash.
The Ocean County Sheriff’s Department Crime Scene Investigation Unit assisted with the investigation.
