Two injured in rollover crash in Pittsfield

PITTSFIELD, MA — Two people were seriously injured Sunday when their vehicle rolled over on Pecks Road.

The Pittsfield Police Department, Pittsfield Fire Department and County Ambulance responded to the area of 469 Pecks Road at approximately 10:45 a.m. for a report of a motor vehicle rollover accident.

Responding officers found both occupants, ages 20 and 21, had been ejected from the vehicle.

Initial investigation showed a Toyota Corolla with the two occupants had been traveling southbound on Pecks Road at a high rate of speed and lost control.

The vehicle struck and broke a utility pole, then struck two vehicles parked in a driveway before overturning at least twice and ejecting both occupants.

Both occupants were transported to Berkshire Medical Center with serious life-threatening injuries.

One of them was transferred to Baystate Medical Center in Springfield due to the severity of the injuries.

Pecks Road was closed for approximately five hours between Thomas Island Road and Bromback Street while the accident was investigated and cleared.

The roadway was reopened at approximately 3:45 p.m.

The accident remains under investigation by the Pittsfield Police Traffic Unit.
