SOUTH PLAINFIELD, NJ — A vehicle was struck by a train at the South Avenue crossing Tuesday evening.
The South Plainfield Volunteer Fire Department was dispatched to the scene at 3:57 p.m.
Engine 5 and Rescue 1 arrived and confirmed the vehicle had been hit by the train and was in a ditch alongside the tracks.
No one was trapped in the vehicle.
The Middlesex County Firefighters Association was requested to respond due to fluids leaking from the car into a nearby creek.
