Man charged with assault after stabbing in Jamestown

JAMESTOWN, NY — A man was arrested after allegedly slashing another man’s face with a knife during an altercation on the north side of the city.

Officers from the Jamestown Police Department’s First Platoon were dispatched to the scene at about 1:27 p.m. on Dec. 5.

Police located a victim who suffered a severe laceration to his face requiring medical attention.

Through investigation, officers identified the suspect as John A. Kellom Jr.

Police said Kellom Jr. pulled out a knife and slashed the victim’s face during a verbal altercation before fleeing the scene.

Kellom Jr. was located at a nearby residence where officers took him into custody without incident.

He was charged with assault in the second degree and criminal possession of a weapon in the third degree.

Kellom Jr. was held in the Jamestown City Jail.

He was arraigned on Dec. 6 and remanded to the Chautauqua County Jail.
