TEANECK, NJ — Four people have been charged in connection with an armed carjacking and robbery that occurred in August.
Bergen County Prosecutor Mark Musella announced the arrests of Emmanuel Almonte, 34, of the Bronx, New York; Jender A. Santos Ulloa, 23, of the Bronx, New York; Marolyn E. Mosquea Fernandez, 23, of the Bronx, New York; and Armando Cuevas Cepeda, 21, of the Bronx, New York.
On Aug. 3 at approximately 5 a.m., the Teaneck Police Department responded to an armed carjacking of two Teaneck residents on Palisade Avenue.
The victims had just returned home from New York City and pulled into their driveway when a white Acura TLX pulled up and blocked the driveway, according to police.
Two masked suspects armed with handguns ordered the victims to lay face down.
Cash and jewelry were removed from the victims while one of the suspects stole the victim’s vehicle.
Both the Acura TLX and the victim’s stolen SUV fled the scene.
Detectives determined the white Acura TLX was bearing a stolen New Jersey license plate and was suspected in other incidents throughout the region.
Each defendant was charged with one count of first-degree armed carjacking, two counts of first-degree armed robbery, one count of second-degree unlawful possession of a weapon and one count of second-degree possession of a weapon for an unlawful purpose.
Santos Ulloa was arrested Oct. 24 in Paterson with assistance from the Paterson Police Department and was remanded to the Bergen County Jail.
Cuevas Cepeda was arrested Oct. 30 in Fort Lee with assistance from the Fort Lee Police Department and was lodged in the Bergen County Jail.
Almonte, who was already in police custody in New York City for an unrelated offense, was served with criminal charges Nov. 13 and remains in custody at Rikers Island Jail pending extradition to Bergen County.
Mosquea Fernandez was arrested Nov. 21 in the Bronx with assistance from the FBI Safe Streets Task Force and remains in custody at Rikers Island Jail pending extradition to Bergen County.
