STAFFORD TOWNSHIP, NJ — A 19-year-old man from Monmouth County jumped from the Route 72 Causeway Bridge on Tuesday night, according to the Stafford Township Police Department.
A motorist reported witnessing the man jump from the bridge at approximately 10:10 p.m. Nov. 25.
Responding officers located an unoccupied grey Toyota Camry at the top of the bridge belonging to the 19-year-old.
A coordinated search operation involving multiple agencies is underway.
Police are asking the public not to operate personal drones in the vicinity as they will interfere with properly equipped aircraft conducting the search.
The agencies assisting in the search include the U.S. Coast Guard, New Jersey State Police Marine Unit, Stafford Township Volunteer Fire & EMS, Ship Bottom Police Department and Barnegat Police Department.
Helicopters, boats and drones are being used in the search operation.
