Man arrested after kicking trash can in Jamestown

JAMESTOWN, NY — A man was arrested after kicking over a city-owned trash can in front of the Jamestown Police Department on Nov. 25.

Joseph A. McWillson kicked over the trash can at approximately 9:15 a.m., causing garbage to spill out, according to police.

Officers attempted to take McWillson into custody for criminal tampering, but he resisted arrest and fought with officers, police said.

After a brief struggle, McWillson was taken into custody and walked into the Jamestown City Jail.

While in the jail, McWillson was found to be in possession of mail belonging to several local businesses, police said.

McWillson was charged with criminal tampering in the third degree, resisting arrest and two counts of criminal possession of stolen property in the fifth degree.

He is being held pending arraignment.
