MEDDYBEMPS, ME — The State Fire Marshal’s Office responded to a fatal house fire on Main Street on Sunday evening.

Investigators were called to 624 Main Street at approximately 5:58 p.m. after the local fire chief reported a strong possibility the homeowner was still inside.

Firefighters found the home fully engulfed in flames upon arrival, with fire spreading to a vehicle in the driveway.

A representative from the Office of Chief Medical Examiner will work to determine the cause of death and confirm the victim’s identity.

State fire investigators returned to the scene Monday to continue their examination and determine the cause of the fire.
