NEW HARTFORD, NY — A woman was arrested early Tuesday following a dispute at an apartment on Middle Settlement Road.
New Hartford Police Department officers were dispatched to 4310 Middle Settlement Road at approximately 2:30 a.m. upon a 911 call reporting a dispute.
While en route, officers were advised that both medical and fire alarms had also been activated at the location.
Upon arrival, officers observed a male victim suffering from visible lacerations across his face.
The victim reported that he had been inside his apartment with a female acquaintance, later identified as Melissa Snyder, 34, of Utica.
According to the victim, he had allowed Snyder to stay at his residence but an argument later developed between the two which led to the victim being struck with a metal object upon his face.
Officers secured evidence at the scene and placed Snyder under arrest.
The victim’s injuries were evaluated at the scene.
Police determined that Snyder had violated the terms of an active court order of protection during the incident.
Snyder was transported to the New Hartford Police Department for processing, where she was charged with assault in the second degree, a felony; criminal contempt in the first degree, a felony; and criminal possession of a weapon in the fourth degree, a Class A misdemeanor.
Snyder was then transported to the Oneida County Jail to be held for arraignment in the Oneida County Centralized Arraignment Part Court.
Domestic violence victim services were provided to the victim.
