Woman charged with child endangerment in Hackensack

HACKENSACK, NJ — A woman was arrested and charged with endangering the welfare of a child following an investigation into alleged sexual assaults of a juvenile.

Jennifer Garcia-Mota, 42, of Hackensack, was taken into custody on Nov. 7 in Paramus.

Bergen County Prosecutor Mark Musella announced the arrest on Nov. 13.

The investigation was conducted by the Bergen County Prosecutor’s Office Special Victims Unit and the Hackensack Police Department.

In early November, Hackensack police contacted the Special Victims Unit regarding an alleged sexual assault of a juvenile that occurred in the past.

The investigation revealed that Garcia-Mota had prior knowledge of the assaults occurring and allowed them to continue, according to authorities.

Garcia-Mota was charged with second-degree endangering the welfare of a child, fourth-degree child abuse and fourth-degree child neglect.

She was remanded to the Bergen County Jail pending a first appearance in Bergen County Superior Court.
