PERINTON, NY — The Monroe County Sheriff’s Office arrested five suspects in connection with more than 100 vehicle larcenies reported across northern Perinton and southern Penfield.
Deputies received numerous calls early this morning for reports of larcenies from vehicles, according to the Monroe County Sheriff’s Office.
While investigating those reports, deputies located the suspect vehicle driving on Macedon Center Road in Perinton.
Deputies initiated a pursuit which ended in the area of Green Ridge Road and Green Valley Road in Perinton.
The sheriff’s office used drone and K9 teams to assist with taking the suspects into custody.
A loaded handgun was stolen from one of the vehicles, according to investigators.
Deputies recovered the stolen handgun after one of the suspects discarded it in a nearby wooded area.
The areas that appear to have the largest concentration of vehicles entered are neighborhoods in northern Perinton and southern Penfield located off Whitney Road and Route 441.
Investigators are currently conducting interviews of the suspects.
Deputies are collecting evidence and reports for vehicles that were entered by the suspects in the involved neighborhoods.
The sheriff’s office estimates there are over 100 vehicles involved at this point.
There is no indication of a threat to public safety at this time, according to the Monroe County Sheriff’s Office.
The sheriff’s office is asking community members to call 911 if they have any information or home camera footage that may show any suspicious activity from last night.
