JAMESTOWN, NY — Police arrested a man accused of violating a stay-away order of protection Thursday.
Officers from the Jamestown Police Department’s First Platoon responded to a southside residence at approximately 11 a.m. for a welfare check on a female domestic violence victim.
Dispatchers informed officers that a male suspect who was the subject of a valid stay-away order of protection was possibly inside the residence with the victim.
Upon arrival, officers made contact with both the protected party and the male suspect.
The suspect was identified as Jason Swartz, 40, of Jamestown.
Swartz was taken into custody and transported to the Jamestown City Jail.
He was held pending arraignment on a charge of second-degree criminal contempt.
