MAYWOOD, NJ — A 45-year-old man has been arrested on charges of aggravated assault and child abuse following an investigation by the Bergen County Prosecutor’s Office and local police.
William B. MacGray, of Maywood, was charged with second-degree endangering the welfare of a child and third-degree aggravated assault, Bergen County Prosecutor Mark Musella announced Thursday.
The Maywood Police Department contacted the Bergen County Prosecutor’s Office Special Victims Unit on Nov. 3 regarding an incident of alleged child abuse.
An investigation revealed that MacGray physically assaulted and abused a juvenile in Maywood on or about Nov. 2.
MacGray was charged on Nov. 3 and was located and arrested the following day.
He was remanded to the Bergen County Jail and made a first appearance in Bergen County Superior Court in Hackensack, where he was ordered released pending further court action.
The investigation was conducted by the Bergen County Prosecutor’s Office, under the direction of Chief Matthew Finck, and the Maywood Police Department, under the direction of Chief Terence Kenny.
