Man arrested on shoplifting charge in Franklin

FRANKLIN, NJ — A man was arrested following multiple shoplifting complaints at a local supermarket.

Jason B. Mohl, 38, of Franklin, was arrested on Oct. 18 after fleeing from Shoprite, according to Franklin Borough Police.

Patrol Officer Zachary Oren and Sgt. Robert Vander Ploeg located Mohl a short time later at the nearby Weis, where he was apprehended and taken into custody without incident.

Shoprite loss prevention agents reported that Mohl allegedly removed consumable merchandise from the store without remitting full payment at the self-checkout on at least five occasions between Sept. 20 and Oct. 17.

Mohl was charged with shoplifting, a disorderly persons offense.

He was also issued a borough ordinance violation related to the alleged conduct.

Mohl was released pending his appearance in Franklin Borough Municipal Court, in accordance with the New Jersey Bail Reform Act.
