TOWN OF TONAWANDA, NY — A Buffalo man was arrested after allegedly fleeing from police while riding a bicycle and being found in possession of a loaded firearm.
Julius L. McCain Jr., 29, of Buffalo, was arrested at 11:30 p.m. Tuesday near the intersection of Tonawanda Street and Vulcan Street.
Officers attempted to stop McCain while he was riding a bicycle due to violations of vehicle and traffic laws, according to Town of Tonawanda Police Chief James Stauffiger.
McCain attempted to flee but was apprehended by officers.
During the arrest, officers discovered McCain was illegally in possession of a loaded firearm.
Police also determined McCain had outstanding warrants from multiple jurisdictions, including the Town of Tonawanda.
McCain was charged with criminal possession of a weapon, resisting arrest, obstruction of governmental administration and a violation of the vehicle and traffic law.
He was held in custody at the Town of Tonawanda Police Department.
McCain was scheduled to appear for arraignment in Town of Tonawanda Justice Court on Wednesday.
