SHELTON, CT — Police have arrested a man on a charge of first-degree malicious killing of an animal following an investigation into video footage showing the killing of a dog.

Michael Anziano, 47, of Shelton, was taken into custody after the Detective Bureau reviewed evidence that included footage of him admitting to killing a dog and additional video showing the remains of the dog placed in a garbage bag.

The case began when Animal Control received a tip about the video footage.

An arrest warrant was issued and executed.

Anziano was initially held on $100,000 bond and appeared in state Superior Court in Derby.

Court records indicate the bond was later adjusted to $75,000.

A plea hearing is scheduled for Nov. 14.
