JAMESTOWN, NY — Three people were arrested on drug charges following a traffic stop on the city’s north side Nov. 2.
Officers from the Jamestown Police Department’s 2nd Platoon conducted the traffic stop around 9:30 p.m. due to equipment violations.
Police said they discovered Jesus Antonio Lao, Tatiana M. Lopez and Kemuel Velazquez-Torres were in possession of fentanyl and a large quantity of glassine envelopes used to distribute narcotics.
All three were arrested and placed in a marked patrol vehicle.
While officers searched the vehicle, police said Lao opened a bag of crack cocaine that had been concealed in his underwear and attempted to snort or eat it to conceal the drugs before entering the city jail.
All three were transported to Jamestown City Jail.
At the jail, police discovered Lao was concealing 9.4 grams of crack cocaine inside his buttocks, and that Velazquez-Torres had hydrocodone pills without a prescription.
Lopez was charged with criminal possession of a controlled substance 7th and criminally using drug paraphernalia 2nd.
Velazquez-Torres was charged with two counts of criminal possession of a controlled substance 7th and one count of criminally using drug paraphernalia 2nd.
Lao was charged with criminal possession of a controlled substance 4th, criminal possession of a controlled substance 7th, criminally using drug paraphernalia 2nd and tampering with physical evidence.
Velazquez-Torres and Lopez were released with appearance tickets while Lao was held pending arraignment.
