PENN YAN, NY — A Seneca County Sheriff’s Office vehicle collided with a school bus at the intersection of Pre-Emption Road and State Route 54 on Wednesday morning.
The crash occurred at 7:28 a.m. and involved a Penn Yan Central School District Bluebird Bus and an unmarked Chevrolet Impala owned by the Seneca County Sheriff’s Office.
The bus driver was identified as David R. Mulberger, 62, of Penn Yan.
Three unnamed juveniles were passengers on the bus at the time of the crash.
The sedan was driven by Mateo A. Andrew, 22, of Seneca Falls, with passenger Colton P. Rice, 21, of Clyde.
Yates County investigators and accident reconstruction personnel responded to the scene.
The driver of the Impala was issued a traffic ticket for failing to stop at a stop sign.
Penn Yan Fire Department, Penn Yan Ambulance, Benton Fire Department, Dresden Fire Department, Yates County EMS and Yates County Office of Emergency Services assisted at the scene.
