VAN BUREN, NY — Members of the New York State Police Troop D Community Stabilization Unit arrested two individuals and recovered illegal firearms, controlled substances and U.S. currency following the execution of a search warrant on Oct. 27.
The search warrant was executed at a residence in the town of Van Buren.
The search led to the seizure of an illegally possessed assault rifle, a New York-compliant assault rifle, two high-capacity magazines, more than 100 amphetamine pills, multiple multicolored methamphetamine pills, $7,218 in U.S. currency, various rounds of ammunition and compliant firearm magazines.
Anthony J. Carbonaro, 56, of Baldwinsville, was arrested and charged with criminal possession of a weapon 3rd degree (assault rifle), a class D felony; two counts of criminal possession of a weapon 3rd degree (high-capacity magazines), class D felonies; two counts of criminal possession of a controlled substance 7th degree, class A misdemeanors; and possession of a controlled substance in a non-original container, a violation.
During the search, investigators determined that Harvey E. Black, 71, of Baldwinsville, who resides at the address and is currently on parole, was in possession of controlled substances with intent to sell.
Black was arrested and charged with criminal possession of a controlled substance 3rd degree, a class B felony; criminal possession of a controlled substance 4th degree, a class C felony; two counts of criminal possession of a controlled substance 7th degree, class A misdemeanors; and nine counts of possession of a controlled substance in a non-original container, violations.
Both Carbonaro and Black were transported to the Onondaga County Justice Center for centralized arraignment.
