EASTFORD, CT — The Connecticut State Environmental Conservation Police are conducting an active missing person search in Natchaug State Forest.
The search is being coordinated with Connecticut State Police and other search and rescue personnel in the towns of Eastford, Chaplin and Hampton.
Authorities are requesting all hunters, anglers, hikers and park visitors avoid the Natchaug State Forest area until further notice.
Officials said the closure is necessary to ensure public safety and allow search teams to operate effectively.
Anyone approached by State Police or Environmental Conservation search personnel in the vicinity of the forest will be ordered to leave the area immediately.
Authorities said public cooperation is essential to the success of the operation.
