FORT EDWARD, NY — A woman was arrested Monday on a felony charge after authorities say she received government benefits from two states simultaneously.

Ednie Lauriston, 32, of Hudson Falls, was charged with grand larceny in the fourth degree, a class E felony, according to Sheriff Jeffrey J. Murphy.

The arrest followed a joint investigation by the Washington County Sheriff’s Office and the Washington County Department of Social Services.

Investigators determined Lauriston received Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program benefits from the Washington County Department of Social Services while already receiving those benefits from another state, according to the sheriff’s office.

The total benefits Lauriston received during that time exceeded $2,000, authorities said.

Lauriston was arrested at 383 Broadway and released with an appearance ticket.

She is scheduled to appear in Fort Edward Town Court at a later date.
