NEW BRUNSWICK, NJ — A 20-year-old man and a 17-year-old juvenile have been charged in connection with a fatal shooting that occurred Oct. 8 in Pine Street Park.
Middlesex County Prosecutor Yolanda Ciccone and New Brunswick Police Chief Vincent Sabo announced the charges Thursday.
At approximately 11:32 p.m. on Oct. 8, authorities responded to Pine Street Park following a report of an unconscious male.
Upon arrival, officers located Fernando Buezo Diaz, 18, of New Brunswick, who had sustained gunshot wounds and was pronounced deceased at the scene.
An investigation led by Detective Victor Delgado of the New Brunswick Police Department and Detective Stephanie Redline of the Middlesex County Prosecutor’s Office determined that a fight ensued and Buezo Diaz was shot during the altercation.
Investigators learned that Jalen Terrell-Ingram, 20, of New Brunswick, was in possession of a gun on the night of the incident.
On Oct. 10, charges were approved against Terrell-Ingram for first-degree conspiracy to commit murder, second-degree unlawful possession of a weapon for unlawful purpose and second-degree unlawful possession of weapon.
Terrell-Ingram turned himself in to the New Brunswick Police Department on Oct. 13.
On Wednesday, a 17-year-old male from North Brunswick was taken into custody and charged with acts of juvenile delinquency for offenses which if committed by an adult would constitute murder, conspiracy to commit murder, unlawful possession of a weapon for unlawful purpose, and unlawful possession of weapon.
