Woodstock man arrested on weapons charges after firearm discharged toward road, buildings

WOODSTOCK — A 22-year-old man was arrested on multiple weapons charges following a joint investigation into the unlawful discharge of a firearm in the direction of a roadway, occupied residence and restaurant.

Michael A. Odorisio was taken into custody after police executed a search warrant at his Mill Hill Road apartment on Oct. 3.

The Woodstock Police Department received a complaint Sept. 29 that a firearm had been discharged from an apartment toward public areas.

The department requested investigative assistance from the Ulster County Sheriff’s Office Detective Unit.

Through the joint investigation, authorities determined that a shotgun had been fired from within the apartment.

Police obtained a search warrant for the residence.

The Town of Woodstock Police Department and Ulster County Sheriff’s Office executed the warrant with assistance from the Ulster County Emergency Response Team and Ulster Regional Gang Enforcement Narcotics Team.

The search resulted in the recovery of an unregistered handgun, a shotgun, an unregistered AR-15 rifle, a .22 caliber rifle, high-capacity magazines and assorted ammunition.

Odorisio was charged with three felony counts of criminal possession of a weapon in the third degree and two misdemeanor counts of criminal possession of a weapon in the fourth degree.

He also faces misdemeanor charges of criminal mischief in the fourth degree and reckless endangerment in the second degree.

Additionally, he was charged with two counts of Environmental Conservation Law violations related to the use and possession of firearms.

Odorisio was processed and transported to Ulster County Centralized Arraignment Part Court for arraignment.
