Routine sex offender check leads to drug and weapons arrest in Bath

BATH — A routine address verification check for a registered sex offender led to a narcotics investigation and the arrest of a 67-year-old man on Saturday afternoon.

An officer with the Village of Bath Police Department responded to a residence on West Washington Street at approximately 1:42 p.m.

While conducting the check, the officer initiated a narcotics investigation that resulted in an application for a search warrant.

The executed search warrant led to the seizure of two digital scales used for weighing and packaging narcotics.

A Rohm RG10 .22 caliber revolver and other items of evidentiary value were also seized.

Jace M. Williams of Bath, a felon, was found to be unlawfully in possession of the firearm.

Williams was arrested and charged with two counts of criminally using drug paraphernalia in the second degree, a Class A misdemeanor.

He was also charged with one count of criminal possession of a weapon in the third degree, a Class D felony.

Williams was processed and transported to the Steuben County Jail for central arraignment.
