Guilderland man arrested on child exploitation charges

LATHAM — State Police arrested a 40-year-old Guilderland man Sept. 8 on charges related to child sexual exploitation.

Charles Markose faces charges of promoting a sexual performance by a child, a class D felony, and possessing a sexual performance by a child, a class E felony.

Police say Markose promoted and possessed images consistent with child sexual exploitation.

The arrest followed an investigation and execution of a search warrant at Markose’s Guilderland residence Aug. 7.

The investigation began with a cyber tip from the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children.

State Police were assisted by the Troop G Computer Crimes Unit, the Internet Crimes Against Children Taskforce and the U.S. Department of Homeland Security.

Markose surrendered to State Police at Latham where he was processed.

He was arraigned at Guilderland Town Court and remanded to Albany County Correctional Facility.

Bail was set at $7,500 cash, $15,000 bond or $25,000 partially secured bond.
