FORT ANN — State Police responded to the report of a landscaping machine into a pond with a trapped operator Sept. 5.
At about 7:25 p.m. troopers responded to the report of a landscaping machine into a pond off of Deweys Bridge Road.
The investigation determined while utilizing a Bobcat skid steer Peter M. McCabe, 62 of Ronkonkoma, was moving dirt around a pond.
The machine unintentionally slid into the water and McCabe was unable to free himself from the machine before it fell under water.
A water rescue was conducted to remove McCabe and immediate life-saving measures were taken.
McCabe was transported to the Glens Falls Hospital where he was later pronounced deceased.
The investigation is ongoing.
