FLETCHER — A 44-year-old Fletcher woman sustained minor injuries Thursday morning when her vehicle crashed into a utility box after swerving to avoid a deer on Cambridge Road.
Meghan Chipman was driving southbound on Cambridge Road just south of the Rushford Road intersection around 9:30 a.m. when the crash occurred.
State Police said Chipman’s 2024 Subaru Crosstrek went off the west side of the road and collided with a phone and internet utility box, which sustained significant damage.
After hitting the utility box, the vehicle continued and came to rest in a grassy and brushy area adjacent to the road.
Chipman, who was wearing a seat belt, told investigators she had gone off the road to avoid colliding with a deer.
Cambridge Rescue treated Chipman at the scene and transported her to the University of Vermont Medical Center for her injuries.
The vehicle sustained undercarriage damage in the crash.
State Police, Fairfax Fire and Cambridge Rescue responded to the single-vehicle crash.
Weather conditions were partly cloudy with clear and dry asphalt at the time of the incident.
