PENN YAN — Edward F. Galvin III, 38, of Geneva, was arrested by Penn Yan police following an investigation into a theft from a local business.
On Aug. 10, police responded to a local business for the report of a larceny.
It was reported to police that a male subject had stolen alcohol from the store on Aug. 9.
Police were able to identify the suspect as Edward F. Galvin III from the store’s CCTV camera.
Later that day, police received a call that the suspect had returned to the business.
Upon arrival, officers observed Galvin as he was leaving the store.
Upon seeing police, Galvin immediately fled on foot.
Galvin was quickly apprehended after a brief foot pursuit and taken into custody without further incident.
Galvin was then transported to the Penn Yan Police Department for processing and charged with petit larceny.
Galvin was released on an appearance ticket to appear in Penn Yan Village Court to answer to the charge at a later date.
