BARTON — The Orleans County Fair is set to celebrate its 158th year from September 4-7, 2024, in Barton. This annual event promises a mix of agricultural competitions, entertainment, and family-friendly activities.
Thursday, September 4 – Senior Citizen Day The fair opens with flag raising by the National Guard at 8:45 a.m. Highlights include oxen pulls starting at 10 a.m., harness racing at noon, and the Black Cat Hell Drivers at 6 p.m. An ATV and dirt bike rodeo caps the evening at 7 p.m.
Friday, September 5 – Truck and Pony Pull Day The open dairy show begins at 9 a.m., followed by pony pulls in various weight classes starting at 10 a.m. The Kingdom Hoofbeats Drill Team demonstrates at 6 p.m., with truck pulls at 7 p.m. and live music by the BBQ Band in the beer and wine garden at 8 p.m.
Saturday, September 6 – Kids Day and Military Family Day Activities run from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. with tractor pulls and a big truck show. Horse pulls begin at 10 a.m. in different weight classes. Special children’s events include a coin scramble at 3 p.m., bicycle giveaway sponsored by Russ Ingalls at 3:30 p.m., and kids prize walk at 4 p.m. Evening entertainment features Huntley, Season 24 winner of “The Voice,” performing from 7:30-9 p.m., with live music by 90 Proof before and after.
Sunday, September 7 – Demo Derby Day The final day begins with an open horse show at 8 a.m., followed by a youth cow costume class and parade at 10 a.m. The 4-H/youth sheep show starts at 1 p.m. Demolition derbies take place at 1 p.m. and 6:30 p.m.
Daily Entertainment Throughout the fair, visitors can enjoy Professor Paddywack performances, racing pigs at 10 a.m., noon, 2 p.m., 4 p.m. and 6 p.m., and hypnotist shows at 11 a.m., 2 p.m. and 5 p.m. The National Guard conducts daily flag raising ceremonies at 8:45 a.m.
