3 teens arrested after high-speed chase in Irondequoit ends on foot

IRONDEQUOIT — Three teenagers were arrested Aug. 14 after leading police on a high-speed chase that reached 100 mph before the suspects abandoned their vehicle and fled on foot.

An Irondequoit Police officer received information at approximately 3:30 p.m. about what appeared to be a stolen car with three black teenage males inside attempting to steal another vehicle in a Home Depot parking lot.

The officer observed the vehicle and activated emergency lights and siren, but the driver refused to comply and sped away eastbound on E. Ridge Road.

The suspects continued eastbound on Culver Road and then onto Route 104, with speeds reaching 100 mph over the Bay Bridge before police terminated the chase due to speed and traffic volume.

Webster Police responded to Tomar Drive after a 911 caller reported three teens had abandoned a red Hyundai in a cul-de-sac and fled on foot.

Webster Police, assisted by New York State Police and Monroe County Sheriff’s Office, established a perimeter in the area.

The New York State Police Aviation Unit provided air support while an Irondequoit Police K9 unit assisted with the search.

All three suspects were apprehended shortly after descriptions were broadcast.

A 16-year-old male driver was charged with criminal possession of stolen property in the fourth degree, unauthorized use of a motor vehicle and unlawfully fleeing a police officer in the third degree.

A 17-year-old passenger was charged with criminal possession of stolen property in the fourth degree and unauthorized use of a motor vehicle.

All three suspects were released on appearance tickets.
