LOWELL — Jeremiah Constant, 26, of Plymouth, has been arrested in connection with a shooting that occurred on Favor St. in Lowell.
On July 23, shortly after 7:30 p.m., Lowell Police officers responded to the area of the South Common for a report of gunshots.
Upon arrival officers located an adult male victim suffering from gunshot wounds.
The victim was transported to a local hospital then, via air ambulance, to a Boston area hospital for treatment.
Detectives from the Lowell Police Criminal Investigations Bureau began actively investigating the shooting.
As the investigation continued, detectives identified Constant as the alleged shooter and placed him under arrest on July 24.
He is charged with armed assault with intent to murder, assault and battery with a dangerous weapon causing severe bodily injury, unlawful possession of a firearm, discharging a firearm within 500 feet of a building, and unlawful possession of ammunition.
Criminal Investigations Bureau detectives were assisted by Massachusetts State Police detectives assigned to the Middlesex District Attorney’s Office.
