Rhode Island police arrest 3 in financial crimes, casino cheating, child solicitation cases

WICKFORD — Rhode Island State Police arrested three men on July 24 on charges ranging from financial crimes to casino cheating and child solicitation.

The Financial Crimes Unit arrested Sadio Sokona, 32, of 109 Perry Street, Central Falls, on charges of unlawful appropriation and access to a computer for fraudulent purposes.

Sokona was processed, arraigned by a justice of the peace and released on $10,000 personal recognizance.

The Gaming Enforcement Unit arrested Elijah P. Jones, 22, of 68 Laura Street, Floor 2, Providence, on six counts of casino cheating as an employee of a gaming facility who knowingly fails to collect or attempts to fail to collect a losing wager or pay an amount greater on any wager than required under casino game rules.

Jones was processed at the Wickford Barracks, arraigned in Second District Court before Judge Houlihan and released on $3,000 personal recognizance bail.

The Computer Crimes Unit/Internet Crimes Against Children Task Force arrested James Tripp, 38, of 333 Phenix Avenue, Cranston, on one count of indecent solicitation of a child and four counts of disseminating indecent material to a minor.

Tripp was processed at State Police Headquarters and transported to Third District Court for arraignment.

Judge Caruolo set bail at $5,000 with surety along with limited internet access and no unsupervised contact with minors.
