Truck strikes utility lines, closes Memorial Drive in St. Johnsbury

ST. JOHNSBURY — A truck struck multiple telephone and electrical wires on Memorial Drive near Breezy Hill Road on July 22 at approximately 5:51 p.m., according to Vermont State Police.

The operator, Shane Doll, 40, of Girard, Ohio, was driving a 2024 Volvo truck when the vehicle struck the wires going over a parking lot.

The impact damaged the wires and broke a telephone pole, causing the lines to fall onto Memorial Drive.

No one was injured during the incident.

Doll was wearing a seat belt and his vehicle sustained no damage.

Memorial Drive was closed for an extended period while Green Mountain Power installed a new power pole and repaired the downed lines.

Weather conditions were clear and road conditions were dry at the time of the crash.

Saint Johnsbury Fire Department and Calex Ambulance assisted state troopers at the scene.
