HALFMOON — The Saratoga County Sheriff’s Office responded to a disturbance call Sunday at 4:57 p.m. on Smith Road in the town of Halfmoon.
Investigation into the complaint led to the arrest of Brian J. Bennett, 31, of Halfmoon, for aggravated family offense and criminal contempt in the first degree, both class E felonies.
Bennett is accused of violating the “stay away” provision of an order of protection and of committing a specified offense under the statute having been convicted of one or more specified offenses within the immediately preceding five years.
The criminal contempt charge was elevated to a felony due to a previous conviction for criminal contempt within the preceding five years.
He was arraigned before the Honorable Joseph V. Fodera in the Halfmoon Town Court and released on his own recognizance pending further proceedings.
