Clifton Park man arrested on drug charges after traffic stop

CLIFTON PARK — State Police arrested a 44-year-old Duanesburg man on multiple drug charges following a traffic stop Sunday night.

John E. Roberts was charged with three counts of Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance in the fourth degree, Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance in the fifth degree, four counts of Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance in the seventh degree, Driving While Ability Impaired by Drugs and other Vehicle and Traffic Law violations.

Troopers stopped Roberts’ vehicle on State Route 146 at about 10:14 p.m. for a Vehicle and Traffic Law violation.

Roberts was identified as the driver and subsequently arrested for Driving While Ability Impaired by Drugs.

The continued investigation located felony weight-controlled substances in the vehicle which were seized.

Roberts was transported to SP Clifton Park for processing where he was evaluated by a Drug Recognition Expert and a sample was collected to determine the drug content of his blood.

Roberts was issued an appearance ticket returnable to the Clifton Park Town Court on July 2 and released.
