LATHAM — State Police arrested a 28-year-old Albany man July 9 on charges of possessing child sexual abuse material.
Matthew T. Bess was charged with possessing a sexual performance by a child, a class E felony.
The arrest followed an investigation by State Police with assistance from the Troop G Computer Crimes Unit and the Internet Crimes Against Children Taskforce.
Police executed a search warrant at Bess’s Albany residence as part of the investigation.
The investigation began after an Internet Crimes Against Children Taskforce analysis determined Bess allegedly received and stored child sexual abuse material obtained over the internet.
Bess was transported to State Police Latham where he was processed.
He was arraigned at Albany City Court and released on his own recognizance.
